Cowboyin', Horses, and Friends is a collection of cowboy poetry written by southwest Oklahoma native, Jay Snider. Born and raised a cowboy, his poetry reflects an insight into personal experiences and stories he's heard through a lifetime of being one.
Jay's album Cowboyin', Horses and Friends was nominated for best poetry album for 2001 in the Academy of Western Artists' Will Rogers Cowboy Awards. Jay has twice been nominated for male poet of the year by the Academy of Western Artists in 1999 and 2000.
He was also recently awarded the "Lariat Laureate" by cowboypoetry.com. for his poem "My Old Amigo Lum".
Jay has opened for Michael Martin Murphey at the Medicine Park Music Hall in Medicine Park Oklahoma. He has also performed at the Chisholm Trail Chuckwagon Gathering in Duncan, Oklahoma, the Western Heritage Classic in Abilene, Texas, and the National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock, Texas as well as numerous private and civic functions in Oklahoma and Texas.
