Colen H. Sweeten Jr., a lifelong resident of Idaho, now lives near his children in Utah. He was raised in the Southeastern part of the state of Idaho, Curlew Valley, where his father homesteaded around the turn of the 20th century. For more than 60 years, he has been writing poetry and articles. He also gives presentations on patriotic stories and is especially interested in the history of the West.
Along with the many years of farming and raising livestock, he was a radar operator during World War II, Oneida County Clerk for 20 years, and employed by the State of Idaho.
Colen has participated in the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada since its beginning.
